The Warriors threw James Wiseman into the fire, and it didn't take him long to show that he belongs. The No. 2 overall pick of the 2020 draft made his NBA debut in Golden State's season opener against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night, and quickly offered glimpses at the vast potential that has the Warriors and their fans so excited.
Less than a minute into the contest, Wiseman took a pass from Andrew Wiggins and powered home a two-handed jam. There was no defender in his way, but the dunk was evidence of just how big and powerful Wiseman is at such a young age.
Despite being a late addition to training camp and sitting out the entire preseason, Wiseman started the game alongside Steph Curry, Kelly Oubre Jr., Andrew Wiggins and Eric Paschall. In doing so, he became the third-youngest player to ever start a game in Warriors franchise history.

The Warriors and coach Steve Kerr have done their best to try to lower immediate expectations of their 19-year-old rookie, due mainly to the fact that his college career consisted of just three games and concluded more than a year ago, but he hasn't exactly made it easy on them. Obviously, he must have been extremely impressive in limited practice action to get the starting nod. And the quick start he got off to in his NBA debut certainly won't slow down the hype.
Get used to it, Warriors fans. This is just the beginning.
