Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who has spent several moments this season watching his players reach career milestones, has an opportunity for his own on Saturday.

Kerr has 299 wins as a coach. A Warriors win over the Celtics at TD Garden would be No. 300, making him the fastest coach/manager in any major American sport to hit that total.

Pregame coverage on NBC Sports Bay Area begins at 4:30, with Sports Net Central, with postgame coverage following the ABC telecast. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:35.

Kerr has coached 376 games, all with the Warriors, with a record of 299-77. Pat Riley is the first NBA coach to 300 wins, requiring 416 games. The quickest Warriors coach achieve 300 wins, Al Attles, did so in 526 games.

Others are, for the record, MLB manager Frank Chance (426 games), NFL coach Don Shula (442) and NHL coach Bruce Boudreau (496).

One certain outcome from this game is that at least one streak will be snapped. The Warriors (34-14) have won nine in a row and the Celtics (30-18) have won their last 10 home games.

ROTATION OUTLOOK

Warriors
The Curry-Irving matchup is key to the game and one of the five best individual duels in the NBA. Curry in the last meeting: 49 points, (16-24 FG, 8-13 3p) and five assists. Irving responded with 37 points (13-18 FG, 5-6 3p). The Warriors won 109-105.

Kerr stayed with his nine-man rotation Thursday against the Wizards but is willing to extend it as dictated by circumstances such as foul trouble or matchups.

The Warriors averaged 20.5 assists (well below their NBA-best 29.3) in two games last season. Consider that a tribute to Boston’s defensive discipline.

It will be interesting to see how Cousins defends Horford and the pick-and-roll. Horford is comfortable on the perimeter. Cousins’ lateral movement will be tested.

Celtics
The Celtics have used 16 starting lineups, mostly because of injuries.

Neither Irving (flu-like symptoms) nor Horford (rest) played Wednesday. Horford has been dealing with soreness in his left knee. Neither is expected to have a minutes restriction vs. the Warriors.

Gordon Hayward is 15 months removed from a gruesome leg injury and averaging 11.0 ppg, the lowest since his rookie season when he was a reserve. He’s averaging 26.1 mpg, but his production has been inconsistent and his athleticism is not near previous levels.

G/F Jaylen Brown, a Cal product, had an atrocious start this season but in recent weeks has shown much higher proficiency.

Boston is 25-3 when entering the fourth quarter tied or with a lead.
