Warriors vs. Blazers watch guide: Lineups, injuries, player usage

The last time the Warriors entered a calendar year playing .500 ball or less on the road, their roster included Monta Ellis, Nate Robinson and Jeremy Tyler.

The current roster, which includes four All-Stars, would sink to that level with a loss to the Trail Blazers Saturday night in Portland.

Coverage on NBC Sports Bay Area begins at 6 p.m. with Warriors Pregame Live. Tipoff at Moda Center is scheduled for 7:05.

The Warriors were the NBA’s best road team over the last four seasons, with a 122-42 record away from Oracle Arena. Through 36 games this season, they are 23-13 overall and 8-8 on the road. They close out 2018 with games at Portland and at Phoenix.

The last time they entered the new year at .500 or lower on the road was 2011-12.

The Trail Blazers (20-15, 13-5 at home), behind a 3-pointer by Damian Lillard with 6.3 seconds remaining in overtime, sent the Warriors to a 110-109 defeat Thursday night at Oracle.

Though the teams split the first two of four meetings scheduled for this season, both games played in Oakland, the Warriors have lost three of four to the Blazers, dating back to last season.

ROTATION OUTLOOK

Warriors: Aside from the defense of forward Andre Iguodala and the rebounding of big man Jonas Jerebko, the bench was disappointing Thursday night. They combined to shoot 6-of-17 from the field. ... Coach Steve Kerr second-guessed himself after that game, saying he probably should have given more time to wing Alfonzo McKinnie, who played only three minutes. Expect more in the rematch. ... Looney had difficulty with Nurkic (team-high 27 points, 12 rebounds), who is three inches taller and 40 pounds heavier. There aren’t a lot of options, so expect more minutes at center for Green or more double-teams and digs from Green or Durant. ... After limiting Lillard and McCollum to a combined 14-of-42 shooting, the Warriors likely will keep Thompson on Lillard, with Curry primarily assigned to McCollum. Iguodala defended both, so expect more of that.

Blazers: Seth Curry was the lone member of the bench to hurt the Warriors on Thursday, scoring 11 points (4-for-5 on field goals, 3-of-4 on 3-pointers) in a sizzling three-minute stretch of the fourth quarter. He is shooting 55.9 percent (19-34) from deep this month. ... The four starters aside from Nurkic (Aminu, Harkless, McCollum, Lillard) combined for 33.3-percent shooting at Oracle. All four tend to shoot better at home. ... Sixth man Evan Turner was not particularly effective (1-of-4 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, two turnovers) and 6-of-22 from the field over the last three games. ... The Blazers are 11-0 at home when they make at least as many 3-pointers as their opponent. ... Reserve big men Zach Collins and Meyers Leonard combined for 1-of-8 shooting on Thursday.
