Warriors' Stephen Curry ‘Moon Landing' shoes auctioned off for $58,000

After Steph Curry said on a podcast he didn't think anyone had been to the moon, he quickly said he was "obviously joking."

Whether it was a joke or not didn't matter -- the entire story took on a life of its own. But there ended up being some huge beneficiaries.

NASA was more than happy to invite the five-time All-Star to tour the Johnson Space Center during the Warriors' next trip to Houston. And when the Kings trolled Curry during a Warriors-Kings matchup, we knew this topic would be around for a while.

Curry even had fun with it by creating some shoes inspired by the situation:

After he wore the custom Under Armour Curry 6s against the Rockets on Jan. 3, Steph agreed to sign and auction off the game-used pair.

The shoes ended up selling for a whopping $58,100 on eBay after 113 bids.

The money will be donated toward STEM education initiatives in the Bay Area through Donors Choose.
