Warriors' Steph Curry cleared for contact, scrimmages at practice

He’s getting closer.

Warriors star Steph Curry was cleared for contact Saturday, and he scrimmaged with the team for the first time since breaking his hand on Oct. 30, coach Steve Kerr announced after practice.

"Yeah, he scrimmaged today, first day of scrimmaging," Kerr told reporters at the Chase Center practice facility. "We only had seven other healthy players, so there were two coaches out there scrimmaging, too. It was not pretty, but Steph looked great."

Curry has said he is targeting a return in early March, so this remains consistent with the two-time NBA MVP's projected timeline.

The Warriors remain firmly at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 12-44 record, but nothing will energize the fan base more than seeing No. 30 back in a Golden State uniform.
