Warriors sign free-agent guard Weatherspoon to contract

Just a few days after waiving guard Langston Galloway, the Warriors brought their roster back to 20 players by announcing the signing of guard Quinndary Weatherspoon on Monday.

Weatherspoon, 25, was selected in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. The Mississippi State product played in 31 games for the Spurs over two seasons. Last season, Weatherspoon played in 20 games and averaged 2.3 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field.

The 6-foot-3 guard is an aggressive, physical downhill driver who can get to the rim. The next step for Weatherspoon will be to refine his jumper and be able to space the floor.

Weatherspoon will join a contingent of players battling for the 15th and final spot on the Warriors roster, including Avery Bradley, Gary Payton II, Jordan Bell and Mychal Mulder.
