While the Warriors and Kings battle in Game 7 on Sunday at Golden 1 Center, the Los Angeles Lakers will get three days to rest as they await the winner.
LeBron James and the Lakers completed their upset of the No. 2 seeded Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night with a 40-point win in Game 6 at Crypto.com Arena.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, the Warriors couldn't finish off the Kings as Sacramento went into Chase Center and came away with a 19-point win to force a winner-take-all game at Golden 1 Center.
Both potential second-round matchups present plenty of storylines.
If the Kings advance Sunday, it would be the franchise's first playoff meeting with the Lakers since their infamous 2002 Western Conference Finals matchup, in which Los Angeles emerged victorious in a contentious and controversial seven-game series.
Should the Warriors pull out a road win Sunday, they would add another chapter to their rivalry with LeBron, who they faced in four straight NBA Finals while he was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Warriors and Lakers haven't met in an NBA playoff series since the second round in 1991, which Los Angeles won in five games. However, they did meet in the 2021 Western Conference play-in game, with the Lakers also winning.
