Warriors hope to quiet 3-1 jokes with NBA Finals comeback vs. Raptors

The Warriors have been the butt of "3-1" jokes ever since June 19, 2016.

That's when they infamously blew a three-games-to-one lead in the 2016 NBA Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and social media -- still to this day, three years later -- has not let them hear the end of it.

After losing 105-92 to the Raptors in Game 4 of the 2019 NBA Finals on Friday night, the Warriors now find themselves on the opposite end of the equation, as they face a three-games-to-one deficit.

Teams holding a three-games-to-one lead in the NBA Finals have won the championship 33 out of 34 times -- with the one loss, of course, being by the 2016 Dubs.

Wouldn't it be poetic if the Warriors, on the brink of their dynasty falling apart, won three games in a row and reversed the "3-1" jokes on their head? Warriors stars Steph Curry and Draymond Green certainly believe so.

"It's not over," Curry told reporters after the game. "It's not a great feeling right now, obviously. But we've been on both sides of it."

Added Green: "I've been on the wrong side of 3-1 before. Why not make our own history?"

Social media agreed.

There's still a possibility that Kevin Durant will return for Game 5 on Monday night in Toronto, which would be a huge boost for the Warriors. Regardless of KD's status, Golden State will need to win three consecutive games -- including two on the road -- to keep its dynasty alive.
