Warriors drop NBA first-quarter-record 55 points vs. Blazers

The Warriors couldn't end the 2022-23 regular season without making some NBA history.

Golden State scored a league-record 55 first-quarter points Sunday in Portland, breaking the previous mark of 51.

The Warriors shot 20 of 29 from the field against the Trail Blazers, including 12 of 18 from 3-point range, taking a 55-27 lead into the second quarter.

Klay Thompson led the way with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and 5 of 8 from 3-point range. His five 3-pointers gave him 300 for the season, the first time he has reached that milestone during his NBA career. He's also the third player in NBA history, along with Steph Curry and James Harden, to make 300 3-pointers in a season.
