Warriors clinch No. 1 seed in Western Conference with win over Clippers

For the fourth time in five years, the Warriors will enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

After some drama over the last few weeks, the Warriors officially clinched the top spot in the Western Conference with a 131-104 win over the Clippers on Sunday night in the final regular season game at Oracle Arena.

The No. 2-seeded Nuggets put up a valiant fight, but their hopes of capturing the No. 1 seed effectively died when they lost to the Warriors on Tuesday night.

While the Warriors now know they will be the top seed in the West, they still don't know who they will play in the first round of the NBA playoffs, which start next Saturday. The Clippers, Spurs and Thunder are all still in play to face the Warriors in the first round.

The Warriors will have home-court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs, but the Bucks have clinched home-court throughout the playoffs. If the two teams meet in the NBA Finals, the Warriors will be in an unfamiliar position of starting the series on the road.

The Raptors could also finish with a better record than the Warriors.

In the final season at Oracle Arena, the road in the West to the NBA Finals goes through Oakland. That seems fitting.
