Warriors claim Denver rim was off, joke about Steph's missed FTs

Steph Curry doesn't miss many free throws, but when he does, something's not right.

In the Warriors' first-round NBA playoff series victory against the Denver Nuggets, Curry missed an eye-popping 10 free throws, an uncharacteristic performance from the charity stripe.

Jordan Poole might have an answer as to why.

"When we played in Denver we thought (the rim) was shifted to the right a little bit our first game," Poole told reporters on Friday. "We didn't mention it until after the first game but obviously, that isn't an excuse or anything. But we thought it was a little bit off. Then they came in and fixed it during the next shoot-around."

Curry shot 92.3 percent from the free throw line this season and has averaged 90 percent for his career. With Curry missing so many shots, Warriors center Kevon Looney knew something was up and felt validated after missing free throws of his own.

"When I miss free throws I kind of blame everything else but me, I try to say it's the ball or it's gotta be the rim," Looney joked with reporters. "Then when he misses it kind of like confirms that for me. So I think it was something wrong with the ball or rim that series because I've never seen him miss that much and I don't miss like that either."

ESPN host declares Steph Curry is Babe Ruth of basketball

Even though Steph struggled at what he does best in the series against the Nuggets, the Warriors completed the gentleman's sweep, advancing to the Western Conference semifinals where they will face either the Memphis Grizzlies or the Minnesota Timberwolves

Whichever city they end up traveling to next round, the Warriors should check the rims with a level ... just to make sure.
