Warriors’ Chase Center debut ‘hard to describe’ for owner Joe Lacob

It's been a long, long time coming.

After 7 1/2 years of planning, building and orchestrating the construction of the NBA's newest state-of-the-art arena, the Warriors are set to make their Chase Center debut Saturday night when they open the preseason against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

For Warriors owner Joe Lacob and president Rick Welts, the day they long have waited for finally is here, but it's hard to put into words.

"We get to do this once," Lacob told Kerith Burke on the Chase Center preview special, which will air Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on NBC Sports Bay Area. “We wanted to have the best arena that you could possibly have, the best customer experience, just like we want the best basketball team."

The task of bringing Chase Center to life was a large undertaking, and Lacob is thankful for all those who helped make the vision a reality.

"Just a lot of coordination and work by everyone involved," Lacob said. "Including city employees and architects, it's almost too hard to describe. Such a massive undertaking, and to see it all come to fruition, it's hard for me to leave. I'm just so proud of everyone, Rick and his entire staff, To get it done, No. 1, and to do it, hopefully, as well as we did."
