Warriors' Bogut must pass concussion protocol

OAKLAND – Warriors center Andrew Bogut, who left in the third quarter of a 111-95 win over New Orleans on Tuesday night after sustaining a laceration to his head, received three stitches but won’t be cleared until he passes concussion protocol.

Bogut was injured when he banged heads with Pelicans forward Dante Cunningham while both were going for a rebound. Cunningham fell to the floor, while Bogut immediately walked off the court as blood streamed down the right side his face.

“I hope he doesn’t have one,” interim coach Luke Walton said of the concussion possibility. “We’re a much better team with him on the floor. But there’s nothing that worrying about can help with the situation.

“I’m hopeful he’ll be OK. But if not, we’ll have other bigs step up and fill that role.”

Bogut’s status will be determined by early Thursday afternoon, before the team leaves for Houston to face the Rockets on Friday.

Bogut was in the midst of a strong game when he was sidelined. He played only 19 minutes, finishing with 12 points (on 6-of-6 shooting), five rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots.
