Wednesday's blockbuster trade between the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards that sent Russell Westbrook to the Wizards and John Wall to the Rockets wasn't just more good news for the Warriors, it also showed Golden State's loyalty to its top two stars.
Steph Curry and Klay Thompson now are the longest-tenured players in the NBA still on the team that drafted them.

While Udonis Haslem is entering his 18th season with the Miami Heat, he went undrafted out of Florida and spent his first year as a pro in France. The Warriors selected Curry with the No. 7 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Two years later, Golden State grabbed Thompson with the No. 11 pick in the 2011 draft. The rest is history.
Both players wound up being draft-day steals by the Warriors. It still is wild to look back and see two other point guards -- three if you consider Tyreke Evans a point guard -- were taken ahead of Curry in 2009. And it's even worse knowing they were taken with back-to-back picks by the Minnesota Timberwolves, right before the Warriors selected the two-time MVP.
People will never forget the Kings took Jimmer Fredette one pick ahead of Thompson in 2011 as part of a three-team trade. Klay and Jimmer's careers have gone just a bit different.

In a three-year span, the Warriors created the greatest shooting backcourt in NBA history. They have been loyal to the Splash Brothers ever since, refusing to trade either player while also handing them massive contracts.
The goal of course is for both Steph and Klay to be Warriors for life. There is no doubt the duo one day will have their jerseys retired in the Chase Center rafters, with statues outside the arena as well.
