Unusual stat shows GP2's incredible impact vs. Nuggets

Gary Payton II was one of the few bright spots for the Warriors against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

As Golden State lost to Denver 117-116 at the buzzer at Chase Center, Payton himself was the lone Warriors player with a positive mark in the plus-minus stat.

All-Stars Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins were minus-2 and minus-1, respectively.

Scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field in 25 minutes of action, Payton also recorded six steals and a block of reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic that resulted in a hilarious celebration after the play.

After the game, coach Steve Kerr praised GP2's performance, saying he played "fantastic" and a "brilliant game."

It's not often that only one Warriors player nets a positive plus-minus score, especially in a game the Warriors were winning practically the whole way and only lost by one.

In 56 games played this season -- most of which coming off the bench -- Payton has established himself as an integral piece to the Warriors' success.
