The item Draymond Green always travels with probably will surprise you

As an NBA player, you travel a lot during the season.

And for a guy like Draymond Green -- who has business ventures all over the world -- the offseason includes many flights and many different hotel rooms.

During a trip to Japan in early September, Draymond sat down with Sam Alipour of ESPN the Magazine for a wide-ranging conversation. And we learned an interesting factoid.

"Something I never leave behind when I'm traveling is candles. They're incredible. Mango/tangerine-scented," Draymond revealed.

His answer was ...

... unexpected, and it's surprising that we are just learning this now.

But hey -- if candles help Draymond relax and/or make him feel comfortable while on the road, then that's just wonderful.

Also, in a way that only the 2017 NBA Defensive Player of the Year can, he turned a question about seeing new places into a great anecdote about his relationship with Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

"One thing I always take away from traveling is just be open to more stuff," Draymond said. "I'm closed off in a bunch of ways. I always think my way is the best way. Hate being wrong. Steve [Kerr] will call a play, and I'm like, 'No, let's run this play.'

"Sometimes it works, but when it don't, he's livid (laughter). And just to be a pr**k, he calls his play ... but our relationship is incredible. Definitely in the past we would butt heads a lot -- everybody knows about the blowup in OKC where we had it out in the locker room -- but I think I've grown up, and also Steve knows me now. He put effort into understanding me, not changing me."

Never change, Draymond. Never change.
