Marquese Chriss officially returned to the Warriors on Wednesday, as the big man signed a two-way contract with the franchise.
By rule, he is allowed 24 days with Golden State.
"We will most likley use those days for games," coach Steve Kerr told reporters after Wednesday's practice. "He knows our stuff already. So on practice days, he will most likely practice on his own with our coaching staff -- either before or after the team.

SIGN UP HERE "We might put him into one or two practices if we feel like it's important. But we'll try to save most of those days for games, and go from there."
Assuming the 22-year-old doesn't participate in a single practice -- and assuming he suits up for every game starting Thursday night against the Denver Nuggets -- he would use up his 24th day March 12 against the Brooklyn Nets.
If the Warriors don't convert Chriss' two-way deal to a standard NBA contract at that point, they could "stash" him in the G League for a couple of weeks and bring him back after the Santa Cruz Warriors' regular season ends March 29.
He then would be allowed to play in Golden State's last eight regular-season games on his two-way contract, because they don't count against the limit.

Of course the Warriors also could send him to Santa Cruz periodically over the next couple of months (or just keep him out of some NBA games) so that way he isn't sidelined for an extended period while he waits to return.

Who knows what actually will happen, but keep all of this in mind as you track Chriss' status. As for his future with the Warriors beyond this season:
"Hopefully this is a long-term partnership," Kerr added.
The No. 8 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft is averaging 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 37 games so far.
