Steph's shotless quarter gets Moody priceless backhanded kudos

Steph Curry made personal history Thursday night with an unusually unremarkable fourth quarter.

The greatest shooter of all time had a shotless fourth quarter for the first time in his career and got outshined by Luka Doncic as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Warriors 122-113. Of course also give the Mavericks credit for their trapping defense, forcing Curry (who had five assists in the quarter) to get rid of the ball as soon as he got to half court.

One of the bright spots was rookie Moses Moody, who scored 13 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting in the fourth quarter, including several clutch 3-pointers to bring the Warriors back.

Mavericks wing Dorian Finney-Smith was impressed with Moody’s performance, but as he told reporters postgame, he’d rather it be the rookie hitting shots than the owner of the most 3-pointers in NBA history.

“We executed the game plan. We started trapping him,” Finney-Smith said with regards to clamping down Curry. “And Moody came in and made every shot. It felt like he was hitting [everything.]

"He made some big shots,” Finney-Smith continued. “But yeah, we’d rather have him bombing up threes than Steph.”

A brilliant backhanded compliment served.

The Warriors hope it’s a breakthrough for Moody, and he and other teammates can provide Curry relief while the rest of the roster, most notably Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala, get healthy and return in time to round into championship-contending form.
