Steph's funny PSA to those who say he ruined basketball

Steph Curry has a message for all the Twitter trolls out there.

On the latest “Knuckleheads” podcast with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles, Curry took the opportunity to make a public service announcement to those claiming his record-shattering shooting talent has left basketball in shambles at all levels.

“I’m going to use this moment to get on my soapbox,” Curry said laughing. “Stop tagging me in all these horrible basketball clips of people taking bad shots, telling me I ruined the game. I did not tell you to shoot that shot.”

Curry is known to attempt wild 3-point shots from all over the court. Take this recent triple from Thursday’s game against the New York Knicks, for example.

Curry, the NBA’s all-time leading 3-point shooter, has the authority to take that deep of a 3-point shot. You don't, Brad at the YMCA. So, stop blaming Steph for your poor shot selection.

“I did not say, ‘shoot that shot,’ ” Curry joked. “It’s tagging [me] left and right, left and right. Like, ‘Yo, you’ve ruined the game. Thanks, Steph.’ ”

When Curry was a rookie in 2009-10, the Orlando Magic led the league in 3-point attempts per game with 27.3. In 2021-22, that would rank dead last in the NBA. The Chicago Bulls are taking the fewest shots from downtown this season with 29.9 per contest.

There’s absolutely no doubt Curry changed the game of basketball forever. But ruined it? No way.
