Steph Curry was one of the recipients of the NAACP Jackie Robinson Sports Award this year. It was the first time in the history of the award of having two recipients. The other was The Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBAPA).
“The NAACP Jackie Robinson Sports Awards will be presented to both Stephen Curry and The WNBA Players Association for their high achievements in athletics in addition to their contributions in the pursuit of social justice, civil rights and community involvement,” the 52nd NAACP Image Awards said in a statement.

The awards noted some of the Warriors superstar’s accomplishments off the court.
One of these accomplishments occurred at the beginning of the coronavirus shutdown last year. He and his wife Ayesha were advocates for “Eat. Learn. Play.” The Currys donated to Alameda County Community Food Bank to ensure students, who depend on two meals a day at school, would still have access to food when the pandemic forced them to stay at home.
He also designed one of his latest Under Armour shoes, the “Curry Flow 8” to combine art with the community. In addition to teaming up with local artist Allison “Hueman” Torneros, who Curry personally selected to design it, he also wanted to implement them to impact the community. He wanted to refurbish Manzanita court in Oakland to develop a safe space for younger athletes to play basketball in these areas. Under Armour and Steph wanted to create equal access across all sports.
Stacey Abrams, minority leader of the Georgia House of Representatives, will present the award to Curry during the virtual award show on March 26 across various networks during the week-long virtual event.
