Steph shines in Warriors' win despite tailbone issues

Steph Curry was in visible pain throughout the Warriors' 116-102 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, clearly not fully healed from the tailbone contusion that kept him out of the team's five previous games.

Nevertheless, Curry delivered 32 points and six assists while connecting on six of his 14 attempts from 3-point range, helping the Warriors snap a four-game losing skid.

"I knew it was going to be interesting how you can't really simulate that in practice or workouts or stuff, so wasn't fun, but got through it and keep warm and deal with the pain and just play. So it'll be something to manage in the near future but it will continue to heal as I get some more time," Curry told reporters.

Curry labored through the victory and his presence was a major boost for a Warriors team that was slipping down the standings in the Western Conference without its star point guard.

When asked by The Athletic's Anthony Slater when he expects to be pain-free, Curry said he doesn't see an end in sight.

"Nah, because it was such an unorthodox type of fall landing on that stair like I did, that probably not anytime soon, but I should be good to keep playing," Curry continued.

Curry fell through an opening in the Houston Rockets' bench on Mar. 17 following a 3-point attempt, eventually being ruled out with a tailbone contusion.

Now 23-25, the Warriors will embark on a three-game East Coast swing, beginning with a matchup Thursday in Miami against the Heat.

Hopefully Steph can get a comfortable seat for the long flight, because the Warriors will need every point the banged-up point guard can provide as they cling to a place in the playoff picture.
