Steph Curry is doing individual on-court work and is progressing well in his rehab from a sprained left foot. Still, his status for Game 1 against the Denver Nuggets remains uncertain, and he has to clear a big obstacle before getting the OK to return on Saturday.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters Tuesday that it's imperative Curry gets a full scrimmage in before returning to the team.
“It’s essential," Kerr said. "We’re not going to play him without getting a scrimmage. The whole team will need a scrimmage, given that we generally play every other day and now we have six days between games, that’s pretty unique. Everybody will need a scrimmage. But it would be irresponsible to put Steph out there in a playoff game without having scrimmage time before.”

Kerr noted the Warriors likely will scrimmage Thursday.
As for Curry, who missed the last 12 games after suffering a foot injury on March 16 against the Boston Celtics, his status is fluid, and the Warriors will reassess where he is at on a daily basis leading up to Game 1.
“It’s literally day-to-day. Tomorrow we will meet with the team and go through our strategy, our game plan, practice in the afternoon, and each day we will determine where Steph is as far as what he’ll be able to do," Kerr said.
"It's just not an easy answer. I think each day will determine where he is and what he can do the following day," Kerr continued later. "At the end of the week, we will determine if he is ready or not. Within that, it’s hard to predict much."

The Warriors enter the playoffs on a five-game winning streak, finishing at 53-29 and earning the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.
Curry's uncertain status for Game 1 might be undetermined, but the superstar still is playing a big role in the team's preparation whether he is cleared to suit up or not.
"That's a big part of his role," Kerr said. "As one of the captains and mentors on this team, he will play a huge role in that regard. Tomorrow will be the first day when we meet to go over game planning. A big part of game planning is messaging about what the playoffs are really about and how you have to approach things and handle them. We have got a lot of young guys so we'll be counting on guys like Steph and [Draymond Green] and [Andre Iguodala] and [Klay Thompson] to really advise the younger players and get them ready mentally."
The Warriors hope Curry can get a scrimmage under his belt and be cleared for Game 1. If not, he still will play a crucial role in Golden State's preparation, with an eye on a return for Game 2.
