Steph Curry's 50-point game in the Warriors' 130-119 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at Footprint Center was historic in many ways.
However, Curry found himself on the wrong side of history as his minus-14 plus/minus rating is the worst by any player that has scored 50 or more points since the 2009-10 NBA season.
For reference, the simplest way to define plus/minus is that it determines how many points a team outscored an opponent when a player is on the floor (plus) and how many points a team is outscored when the player sees action (minus).

The others on that list include Devin Booker (minus-13) in 2019, James Harden (minus-11) in 2017 and Bradley Beal (minus-9) in 2021. It's important to note that all those performances came in a loss.
For Booker, he scored 59 points on 19-of-34 shooting from the field, 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and nailed 16-of-17 free-throw attempts. He also had four assists, three rebounds and a steal, but had six turnovers and five fouls in the Suns' 125-92 loss to the Utah Jazz.
Meanwhile, Harden's 51-point outing was one of four 50-plus point performances he had in the 2017-18 season. In the 128-118 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Harden -- then with the Houston Rockets -- had eight assists, four rebounds, three steals, eight turnovers and fouled out.
Before Curry's most recent 50-point explosion, Beal posted a 60-piece in the Washington Wizards' 141-136 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Just the eighth game of that season, Beal filled up the stat sheet with seven rebounds, five assists and a steal to go along with four turnovers and three fouls.

Despite Curry being red-hot to start the 2022-23 NBA season and on pace to break his own true shooting record that he set in 2018, the Warriors still are winless on the road and are 6-9 on the season.
Curry can only be herculean for so long and it's clear that he needs help, if Golden State wants to turn its season around.
