Steph making ‘good progress,' but will miss rest of regular season

Steph Curry's rehab is progressing, but the Warriors star isn't ready to return to the court yet.

Curry, who has a sprained ligament in his left foot, will begin on-court activities next week, the Warriors announced Friday. The next update on Curry will come on April 11, the day after the regular season ends.

Curry sprained the ligament during the second quarter of the Warriors' loss to the Boston Celtics on March 16. The two-time MVP was injured when Celtics guard Marcus Smart dove for a loose ball and rolled into Curry's foot.

When Curry initially went down, head coach Steve Kerr saw it as an opportunity for the team to figure out how to operate without the gravity of the greatest shooter in history.

"As far as the team is concerned, it will give us an opportunity to learn how to execute without him, which will come in handy during those minutes during the playoffs when he’s off the floor. If we can learn to execute a little bit better now, that will serve us well later," Kerr told reporters on March 18.

But the Warriors have predictably struggled in Curry's absence, going 1-6 in the seven games since the injury.

The Warriors will have to solidify their playoff seeding without Curry on the floor, and hope he will be 100 percent for the start of the first round of the NBA playoffs.
