Steph explains how OKC's game plan allowed JP to go off

The Warriors picked up on a flaw in the Oklahoma City Thunder's game plan and exploited it on their way to a 136-125 win on Tuesday night at Chase Center.

Steph Curry led the way with 34 points, but it was a fourth-quarter flurry from Jordan Poole that helped Golden State secure a huge win to maintain pace in the Western Conference playoff race.

In speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area's Bob Fitzgerald and Kelenna Azubuike on the court after the game, Curry praised Poole's performance and explained how the Warriors were able to exploit the Thunder's defense.

"He's obviously extremely talented and he can create off the dribble, he's super fast in transition," Curry said. "And we kind of read the game plan from them. [Luguentz] Dort was just going to stay on me the whole time and not help. It just gives JP space, lets him go to work, he had some big threes, got to the bucket, got to the free-throw line."

Not only did the Warriors turn to Poole as their primary scorer down the stretch, but also Curry was the one leading the charge, feeding Poole almost every chance he had.

"He was so good that last quarter-and-a-half just scoring, getting to the rim, decision making," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Poole. "And it wasn't like I told Steph anything, we just had a couple of play calls where Jordan had the ball and something good happened and Steph being who he is just gave the ball to Jordan, he said, 'You take it.' He was hot and we were scoring every time. We just stayed with JP and Steph was leading the charge. JP was amazing."

Poole finished the game with 30 points, two rebounds and four assists on 8-of-19 shooting from the field, 5 of 12 from 3-point range and 9 of 11 on free throws.

Without Klay Thompson, who missed Tuesday's game with lower back soreness, Poole stepped in nicely as a fellow Splash Brother alongside Curry.
