Steph discusses nearing Wilt's Warriors scoring record

Steph Curry now is just 129 points away from surpassing Wilt Chamberlain as the Warriors' all-time scoring record, following his 37-point effort in Sunday night's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Being able to eclipse Chamberlain would be a major milestone in what already has been a decorated career for the two-time NBA MVP, and Curry believes it is "surreal" to even be nearing 17,783 career points with the Warriors.

"That's surreal to be honest, I don't know how many years he played here but he's got a lot of buckets," Curry told reporters after the game. "Obviously he's a legend and remains across the whole league, but obviously wearing a Warriors uniform and having been here my whole career, it's pretty crazy, so I got a couple more points to score, hopefully some more wins in the process, but it is a wild just thought in general. To know where it started out and all that's happened over the course of the career, obviously got a lot more to do, but that is a pretty significant milestone that god willing when it happens, I will appreciate that moment."

He also joked that he's glad the 3-point line wasn't around in Chamberlain's day, or he's sure Wilt would have amassed an even larger total.

Curry still is dealing with pain from a tailbone injury suffered a few weeks ago, but the star guard found a way to pour in 37 points on 12 of 23 shooting from the field.

The 12-year veteran already surpassed Rick Barry earlier this season, and almost certainly will surpass Chamberlain by the end of April barring injury.

Curry is the Warriors' all-time leader in assists as well as free throw percentage, and should add scoring to that list before the end of the season.

There's no question his name will blanket the franchise record books by the time he elects to hang up his sneakers.

No offense to Steph, but good luck trying to eclipse Chamberlain's absurd 41.5 points per game average during his Warriors tenure.
