Steph Curry didn't become the only unanimous MVP in NBA history because of luck or good fortune. The guy spends countless hours in the gym and is a true "gym rat."

To keep the skills sharp, you sometimes have to make sacrifices and go to desperate measures.

Curry recently was a guest on The Woj Pod and was asked the following question:

Adrian Wojnarowski: "Where's the craziest place -- you were traveling and you were somewhere and a gym wasn't readily available, like, 'I want to shoot, I want to get shots up,' -- where's the craziest place you found yourself?"

For the answer, let's take a walk down memory lane to the summer of 2010.

"Probably in Lake Tahoe -- I was up there after my rookie year -- there's the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament that I love to play in every summer -- but it happened to be like a week before Team USA tryouts for the 2010 world championships," Curry explained. "And so I'm out here playing golf, I'm having fun trying to win this golf tournament, but I know in the back of my head next week I got to go to Vegas for Team USA training camp.

Steph left awestruck by Warriors fans' ‘special' support in Houston

What we learned as Steph, Warriors stave off Rockets comeback in win

"So, I called my agent and said, 'Hey, is there a gym somewhere in these mountains that you can find that I can get some shots up in between my rounds?' So he's calling around, and he's like, 'I can't find anything.'

"So, we literally just drive up to this little rec center situation that had like a three-quarter court. I bet they were like 15-foot ceilings. And we're in there -- me, my dad, my agent -- they're rebounding for me. Spent probably three days in there -- like an hour just getting shots up, running sprints, making sure I was in shape.

"Then I would go play golf in the tournament. If I had a picture of that gym, you would probably laugh."

That time in the "little rec center situation" paid off because Curry made the team that went on to claim the gold medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

Curry's best game was against Tunisia on Sept. 2, when he scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.
