Where do you even start with Chris Mullin? Where do you go with him?Do you talk to him about when he was young, and ask him about the foundation he laid at that time to become a great player? Do you talk about his New York roots, and the undeniable connection he made with that city? Do you talk about his career at St. John's, where he wound up as the college player of the year and helped establish the Big East as the country's preeminent conference?Do you talk about his days with the Warriors and "Run TMC" and his five NBA All-Star appearances? What about being a two-time Olympic gold medalist, once as an amateur and once as part of the Dream Team? How about overcoming alcoholism and his relationship with Don Nelson? Or his time as general manager of the Warriors and subsequent falling out?
The point is, there are so many facets to Chris Mullin's Hall of Fame career, it's hard to even know where to start. But we're going to try.A little later today, the San Francisco Chronicle's Bruce Jenkins and Scott Ostler and myself are going to sit down with Mullin, set to be enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. next Friday, and talk to him about some of this stuff. After us, another group of writers will do the same.STEINMETZ: Mullin, W's reconcile over Hall of Fame
All this, of course, is leading up to next weekend's enshrinement, and CSNBayarea.com will be there every step of the way. We'll be keeping up with Mullin and his Hall of Fame induction, and we'll be in Springfield next weekend to let you all in on what's happening. We'd love for you all to come along for the ride. And here's your question -- if you could ask Mullin a few questions, what would they be?See, we told you it was tough.
