We knew this was a possibility when the Thunder announced that Russell Westbrook underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Sept. 12.
Now it appears to be a reality: Westbrook won't play on Tuesday night in the season opener against the Warriors.
The Thunder have listed Westbrook as OUT on the game notes they sent to the media on Monday. Additionally, center Steven Adams is listed as questionable due to lower back stiffness.
Things could always change, but it's not looking for a Westbrook vs. Kevin Durant showdown at Oracle on Tuesday.
The Warriors will receive their 2018 championship rings before the game. No word on if the Thunder will be on the court watching the ceremony or in their locker room munching on cupcakes.
