Report: Wiseman plans on training with Garnett in offseason

James Wiseman sustained a torn meniscus in his right knee early in the second quarter of the Warriors' win over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.

It's unclear at this point if he will suit up for any of Golden State's remaining 19 games, which means nobody yet knows when his summer regimen will begin.

But whenever Wiseman does get back in the gym to begin preparing for next season, it sounds like there will be times when he takes the court alongside a Hall of Famer.

"One thing his mom told me recently was that James already cannot wait for the offseason to train with Kevin Garnett," Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle said Monday on the Warriors Off Court podcast. "They actually have reached out to each other and they do have plans to work together this summer."

Garnett back in early February included Wiseman when asked to name some big men he believes he could help improve.

And those comments from KG came a couple of weeks after Warriors coach Steve Kerr let it be known that the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft definitely could learn a lot from the No. 5 overall pick from the 1995 draft.

"I think KG is someone I've always admired and if I ever get the chance to connect the two of them, I would do that," Kerr told the media. "KG was one of the best defensive players in the league.

Draymond states KD declining Dubs reunion didn't affect him ‘one bit'

"Like James, he came into the NBA without any experience basically. He went straight from high school, James basically went straight from high school -- he only played three college games.

"That'd be a good guy to connect him with."

Wiseman agreed wholeheartedly.

"I actually would choose KG, too," the rookie said. "KG was one of my favorite players. So really just trying to ask him questions and pick his brain, because he came in really young as well.

"I'd just want to see his process in how he took the adversity and the difficulties in the NBA and how he came back from that and just improved every day in practice and in games."

Well, it sounds like the 20-year-old is going to get that opportunity soon.
