This much we know: Golden State's lease at Oracle Arena in Oakland expires at the end of the 2016-17 season. What may transpire between now and then is little more than speculation, but a story published Monday indicates that the team's ownership is considering a home in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that "the Warriors are eyeing the 13 acres of concrete and pilings that make up Piers 30-32, the area that at one point was to be the hub of the America's Cup race before regatta organizers ditched those plans.
The location is adjacent to the Bay Bridge, and hosted ESPN's X Games in 2000.

The story said that San Francisco city has agreed to put 8 million into fixing up the site, but the location would need an additional 50 million in construction infrastructure.
If the Warriors were to set up shop in San Francisco, it would be a homecoming of sorts. When the franchise relocated from Philadelphia in 1962 it was known as The San Francisco Warriors, and wore jerseys with "The City" emblazoned on te front.
The team played home games at what is now known as the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and the Cow Palace in nearby Daly City before moving to Oakland for the 1971-72 season and changing "San Francisco" to "Golden State."
