The closer we get to Wednesday night's NBA draft, the more rumors will swirl regarding the Warriors and the No. 2 overall pick.
Matt Moore of the Action Network reported Wednesday that the Warriors and Celtics discussed a trade that would send Marcus Smart from Boston to Golden State for the No. 2 pick, but those talks ultimately fell through.

The New York Times' Marc Stein first reported the Celtics, who own three first-round picks -- No. 14, 26 and 30 -- are looking to get into the top three of the draft. It has been rumored for quite some time now that the Warriors are looking to move back in the draft and acquire a veteran player as a win-now move. With Steph Curry and Klay Thompson back to full health, Golden State is looking to compete for a title once again and would like to properly supplement its championship core.

Smart, 26, certainly would help the Warriors' championship aspirations. He is one of the best defenders in the NBA and continues to improve offensively. This past season, he averaged a career-high 12.9 points per game and has shot 35.5 percent from 3-point range the last two seasons. Smart also has been named First-Team All-Defense in each of the last two seasons.

There's no doubt Smart is the exact player the Warriors are looking for. As of right now, however, it seems unlikely he wears a Golden State jersey this upcoming season.
