Jason Thompson may not have panned out with the Warriors, but the big man will reportedly get another chance to prove himself with an NBA title contender.

Thompson, whom Golden State waived on Feb. 22 to make room for the newly acquired Anderson Varjeao, will sign with Toronto (39-19, second in the East) for the rest of the season, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

The Raptors will waive forward Anthony Bennett -- a Toronto native and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft -- to clear space for Thompson, Charania reports.

Thompon was a consistent contributor in his eight-year NBA career (all with the Kings) before coming to the Warriors, but could not carve out a place in Steve Kerr's regular rotation.

"It was not a good fit, frankly," Kerr said after Thompson was waived, according to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group. "We play small at the four with Draymond (Green) and Harrison (Barnes)."

In 28 games with Golden State this season, Thompson averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in 6.4 minutes per game. He was originally acquired in an offseason trade with the 76ers, with forward Gerald Wallace heading to Philly.

Bennett, who was waived by the Timberwolves before the start of the season, played in 19 games for the Raptors, averaging 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 4.4 minutes per game.
