Daryl Morey was the general manager of the Houston Rockets for 13 seasons from 2007 to 2020.
In October 2012, he pulled off a blockbuster trade by acquiring James Harden from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Morey and Harden never were able to get over the hump and advance to the NBA Finals, as the Warriors eliminated the Rockets four times over a five-year span -- including twice in the Western Conference finals (2015 and 2018).

"I'm told Philadelphia is expected to be interested in and pursue James Harden," Stadium's Shams Charania reported Tuesday. "Other teams also (will) express interest. As of right now, it's an emphatic 'no' from the Rockets side. It's really a non-starter for that organization.
"Daryl Morey, though, has a history of being active on the trade market. And I wouldn't expect it to be any different now that he's in Philadelphia."
If Harden ends up in Philly, it almost assuredly means either Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid -- two star players linked to the Warriors a lot over the last couple of months -- will be traded to Houston.

Most people assume that the 76ers will start the season with Simmons and Embiid on the roster, and allow new coach Doc Rivers the opportunity to see if he can make it work.
But you never know what Morey has up his sleeve, and it is crystal clear how much he loves Harden.
