"Among the options they [the Brooklyn Nets] explored, I’m told, was sending [Spencer] Dinwiddie to Golden State for Kelly Oubre," Marc Stein of The New York Times writes. "Golden State rejected those overtures because it is still desperate to make the playoffs.
"While numerous Oubre trade scenarios came up, Golden State was not going to trade him for someone who couldn’t help the team in the short term."
Stein did not state whether any other players or draft picks were involved in the trade parameters.

Dinwiddie sustained a torn right ACL back on Dec. 27, and is not expected to play again this season.
The 27-year-old (he turns 28 next week) has a $12.3 million player option for the 2021-22 campaign, and the expectation is that he will decline it and become a free agent.
So if the Warriors had acquired Dinwiddie, they would have faced the risk of losing him on the open market.

Oubre -- who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer -- did not shoot the ball very well (8-for-19 overall, 0-for-3 on 3s) in the Warriors' win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
But the 25-year-old recorded 18 points, 11 rebounds, one steal, played great defense and brought terrific energy.
"Fans can't know -- it's not their fault. But there wasn't an opportunity that would have made us better than having Kelly Oubre," president of basketball operations Bob Myers said Monday morning on KNBR's "Murph & Mac" show. "That's the bottom line.
"Kelly Oubre gave us the best chance to win. And certainly we do want to win this year. There was no opportunity to win more than we would with him."
