PatBev trolls Kuminga with ‘rookie' mispronunciation

Jonathan Kuminga’s high-flying, slam dunk-filled rookie season captured the attention of the entire league early on.

He might not be a household name just yet, but people know who the 19-year-old is.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley surely knows who he is, even if he can’t remember his name.

Beverley joined ESPN’s First Take on Monday as he, Stephen A. Smith and JJ Redick discussed who can guard Luka Dončić ahead of the Western Conference finals matchup between the Warriors and Dallas Mavericks.

“[The Warriors] have someone who can, I wouldn’t say guard Luka, but make it hard on him,” Beverly said. “[Andrew Wiggins, the rookie…”

“Kuminga,” Smith said when he realized Beverly was struggling to remember his name.

“Cowabunga, I don’t care how you say his name,” Beverley responded.

“Kuminga, his name is Kuminga,” Smith said.

“Yeah, but he’s a rookie so I’m not going to give him his real name yet,” Beverley replied.
