Eric Paschall wants to make it clear where he's from.
When The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson mentioned the Warriors forward was from upstate New York in the postgame Zoom after the 111-107 win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, Paschall made it clear that wasn't exactly true.
“Stop saying I’m from upstate though," Paschall said.

It was priceless, but all in good fun.
Even without audio, you could see how Paschall felt about it. Even after the interview session was over.
“I’m not from upstate,” Paschall said again. He then told Thompson he would be happy to send the reporter a picture to show him where upstate truly is.
Oh, and he did just that on Twitter.
Paschall is from North Tarrytown, N.Y., but did attend Fordham University in the Bronx.
He also tweeted about it again on Thursday. He's very passionate about it -- and rightfully so.
The Washington Post also laid it out, thankfully -- because even I needed a better understanding. It’s like when you live in a place, you’re protective over others commenting on it. For instance, San Franciscans despise those who refer to it as “San Fran.”
But that’s a totally different blog.

In a Post article from April 2018, they asked political activist Cynthia Nixon where she believed "upstate New York" began.
“Once you get to Ithaca, by around there, you’re starting to get upstate,” she said in the interview. The writer of the article, Philip Bump, disagreed. Firmly.
“With all due respect: What on Earth are you talking about,” Bump wrote.
He agreed he was angry with her response which goes to show, they take it very seriously on where the boundaries are.

The New York Times gave more of an outline in this Feb. 2014 post about what people meant by “upstate New York”:
“In 2011, when Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo created 10 regional councils to develop plans for economic growth across the state, each council got a map for planning purposes. The state regions were defined largely by how residents there defined themselves, as well as by maps from the state’s Labor Department and Empire State Development Corporation," Michael Pollak wrote.
The North Country’s regional council map follows the Canadian border from Lake Ontario to Lake Champlain, and includes Watertown, Plattsburgh, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. It covers Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex, Hamilton and Lewis Counties.
The Southern Tier lies along the Pennsylvania border and includes Elmira, Ithaca, Corning and Binghamton. It comprises the counties of Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga, Broome, Chenango and Delaware on the regional council map.”
So, with that said, it goes to show, people could be very particular about where they’re from. But it's also clear Paschall and everyone involved were all smiles about the whole thing.
