Oubre's defense on full display in Warriors' preseason opener

Kelly Oubre went 1-for-6 from 3-point range in the Warriors' preseason win over the Denver Nuggets last Saturday night.

But the new Golden State wing certainly made his presence felt on the defensive end of the floor.

Oubre finished the night with three blocks, two of which were highlight-reel worthy.

The 25-year-old wasn't perfect, as he got beat for a backdoor layup early on, and got stuck on a couple screens which led to open looks for Michael Porter Jr. (which he missed).

Why Kerr confidently states Draymond is ‘best defender in the world'

Podz contemplated hitting ‘night night' celebration vs. Bucks

But Steve Kerr after the game made it very clear how he felt about Oubre's performance defensively.

“Excellent. Excellent," the Warriors' coach told the media. "He’s not afraid to guard the ball and take on the toughest challenge. He did a really, really good job.

"A lot of active plays coming from the weak side, going up to challenge guys’ shots from behind -- sort of coming out of nowhere.”

Oubre also showed maximum effort going after multiple loose balls, and generally played very hard.

"I definitely would love to be on an All-Defensive team multiple years (in) my career," Oubre said after the win. "I gotta get that first one. Once I do -- sky's the limit from there."
