Former Warriors coach Don Nelson joined the 'Warriors Plus Minus' podcast with Tim Kawakami and Marcus Thompson on Thursday with a number of interesting comments on Golden State.
Stephen Jackson in late February guaranteed that his "Warriors team would beat today's Warriors team," but Nelson, smoking a cigar on his Maui back porch before heading off to King Kamehameha Golf Club, disagreed.

"I don't think that we were close to the caliber that you guys have," Nelson said. "Just talk about the center position, in and of itself, the new Warriors are way better at that position. You got Curry, the best point guard in the league. We didn't really have Curry when we played Dallas that year. So you'd certainly get the nod there.
"I wouldn't think that we could beat you guys in a seven-game series, but we could certainly win a game, you know, we were very fiesty and we were a pretty good team, not a great team. You guys have a great team now.

Nelson was hesitant to compare the 1995-96 Bulls team to the 2015-16 Warriors.

"You shouldn't really compare teams back then." Nelson said. "The Bulls were so dominant, they just had so many big players. And now here you've got a team that's just different. They play by the modern rules, the modern way -- lot of screen and rolls, lot of quick-hitters. They space the court as good as anybody. They all look for that 3-point shot."
Nelson, 75, is the all time winningest coach in NBA history with a 1,335-1,063 (.557) career mark over a 30-year coaching career. The Warriors went 26-56 under Nelson in the 2009-10 season, his last.
