NBA rumors: Warriors believe Kevin Durant tore Achilles tendon in Game 5

The bad news on Kevin Durant's injury appears to be getting worse.

Hours after an emotional Bob Myers told the media that Kevin Durant suffered an injury to his Achilles, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski cited league sources in reporting that the Warriors believe Tuesday's MRI will confirm Golden State's worst fears: KD has a torn Achilles tendon.

Durant returned for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night after missing more than a month with a calf strain. He re-injured the same leg early in the second quarter of the Warriors' eventual 106-105 victory.

Durant can opt in to his contract with the Warriors for the 2019-20 season for $31.5 million or opt out and test the free-agent market. Despite the gruesome nature of his injury, Durant surely will still command max money from whichever team he chooses to play with next season.

Get well soon, KD.
