They say to never be the smartest person in the room and to surround yourself with people who push and challenge you.
Warriors general manager Bob Myers, head coach Steve Kerr, Steph Curry and other Warriors stars have been in the same room thousands of times together which has resulted in many great accomplishments for the Warriors over the past decade, including six NBA Finals appearances and four championships.
But the highs wouldn’t be the highs without the lows.

SIGN UP HERE As Myers revealed in an interview with GQ magazine, there was plenty of great knowledge and unique perspectives gained from those interactions with Kerr and players like Curry.
“Recently, I was thinking about, why has Steve won nine rings? Why have Draymond [Green], Steph, Klay [Thompson] won championships? They're all very different guys,” Kerr said. “What is the common denominator for them? This is going to sound pretty mundane, but they all have winning first in their order of importance. If you take somebody that really wants to win, and is very competitive -- and of course don’t overlook the talent component -- you’ve got a pretty good shot at something special.
“In sports, we talk a lot about winning, competing. The truth is that to subscribe to those things, and to chase them requires a lot of sacrifice, a lot of failure, a lot of work, a lot of unselfish acts. I can't make somebody care about winning more than they already do.”
Myers was hired by Golden State in 2011 as an assistant general manager. Twelve months later, he was promoted to general manager.

The Warriors had a strong draft in 2012, drafting a forward from Michigan State University by the name of Draymond Green, who would end up being the third and final piece of the Warriors’ Big Three.
In 2014, Golden State hired Kerr to become the head coach of the Warriors, succeeding Mark Jackson.
Since then, Myers, Kerr, Curry and the gang have created magical memories and moments together, both on and off the court.
That 2014-15 season, the Warriors made their first NBA Finals appearance in 40 years -- and won. They would go on to make four more consecutive appearances after that, winning two more titles.

"To take another angle at it, I'd say find people you can lose with. When we lost in 2016 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals at home, I met with Steve that night after the loss, and everybody else the next day. So we're 12 hours removed from a Game 7 loss at home -- in Steve's case, 10 minutes removed.
"It was the perfect opportunity for people to blame other people, because it was just me in the room. But nobody did that. If you can lose with somebody, you can certainly win with them. You can win with pretty much anybody. It's hard to lose with people, because you really find out the worst side of them."
That heartbreaking NBA Finals loss really could make or break a team, and later it was revealed to be the ultimate test for this dynasty after so many critics said Golden State's time was over.
But the Warriors' latest championship after an inspiring 2021-22 season was the cherry on top of an already-sweet story.
A story that Myers, Kerr and the Warriors have proven is still being written. Don't close the book just yet.
