Moody: Klay, not Steph, is better blueprint for shooting

The Warriors' youngsters could not have asked for better veterans to learn from than Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

Curry, who is a lock for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, continues to put on a shooting clinic almost nightly and has revolutionized the game of basketball.

However, for Moses Moody, Thompson is the Splash Brother that he looks to emulate.

Speaking with NBC Sports Bay Area's Warriors insider Monte Poole on the latest episode of the "Dubs Talk" podcast, the 20-year-old guard explained why is able to learn more from watching Thompson than Curry.

"I sit there and I watch Steph and Klay both, I watch the way they shoot the ball, watch what they do," Moody said. "Steph, it's hard to really do anything with that, it's hard to mimic that and take anything from that just because he can make shots, it's uncommon, it's a lot of things that don't have to be the same. Off the dribble, off the run, off one foot, backward, he can make anything. The things I take from him are his hand and the way it comes off his hand."

While Moody examines and studies how Curry gets ready to shoot and how he releases the ball, the young guard explained why it was easier to learn from Thompson.

"But Klay seems more routine and he has things that he wants to be the same when he shoots the ball and it's really easy to take things from that. But that's something I try and pick up on when I'm watching games is not try and mimic anybody and say 'This works for him, so it'll work for me,' " Moody told Poole.

Why McNutt believes Warriors' Butler has most to prove in second half

"I watch everything and pick a couple things out that I might like for myself."

Moody's explanation is a testament to Curry's otherworldly talent and absurd acrobatic shooting, something that is near impossible to replicate.

That is why Thompson's simplistic catch-and-shoot style is an easier blueprint to follow for young players like Moody, Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman.

At the end of the day, the Warriors have a handful of veteran players that will contribute to the development of Golden State's next core.
