Memphis weatherman being investigated for racist Draymond tweet

Joey Sulipeck, a meteorologist for FOX13 in Memphis, is being investigated by the TV station for a tweet he sent out during Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Warriors and Grizzlies on Saturday night.

Sulipeck's tweet, posted shortly after Grizzlies forward Kyle Anderson was ejected for picking up two technical fouls, was about Draymond Green and contained a racial slur when describing the Warriors' forward.

In the wake of the backlash Sulipeck received that night, he deleted his Twitter account.

Green became aware of the tweet after the Warriors' 142-112 win and posted about it on Twitter and his Instagram story.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was asked about Sulipeck's tweet following practice on Sunday. Kerr hasn't been on Twitter in almost a year, but he provided a general response to what happened.

“Does it surprise me that a weatherman would tweet a slur at Draymond? In 2022? Not in the slightest bit,” Kerr told reporters. “This is America. This is how we operate.”
