McGuire — not Udoh — will start for David Lee

PHOENIX The Warriors will have their starting backcourt intact this afternoon whenthey play the Phoenix Suns. Thats the good news. The bad news is theyll bewithout David Lee, who stayed back at the team hotel with an illness.Warriorscoach Mark Jackson said Dominic McGuire will start in Lees placea littlebit of a surprise because youd figure it would be Ekpe Udoh.ButJackson believes McGuire gives the Warriors a better shot at defending ChanningFrye, a 3-point shooting power forward.
This is a different type of basketball team that loves to stretch the floor," Jackson said. "Especially with pick and roll situations, they have great versatility in the starting lienup with a stretch four in Channing Frye. It gives us a better opportunity to defending it, with Ekpe coming off the bench in a more traditional type of role at four."StephenCurry and Monta Ellis will start in the backcourt. Curry missed Wednesdaysgame against the New York Knicks with a sprained ankle, but it held up nicelyin Saturdays game against Philly.Ellisis back with the team after missing Saturdays game because he was attendingthe funeral of his grandmother.
