Mannion leads Sea Dubs in scoring in G League Bubble win

Nico Mannion is continuing to impress in the G League bubble.

In his best performance yet, the 19-year-old guard put up a season-high 25 points, along with eight rebounds and four assists in the Santa Cruz Warriors 108-88 blowout over the Long Island Nets on Saturday.

Mannion displayed some stellar shooting, going 10-of-20 from the field and 3-of-9 from distance over 36 minutes while finishing with a plus-19 rating. While his offensive production varied from pulling up from mid-range to driving down the lane and through defenders for lay-ups, it was Mannion's key 3-pointers in the second half that helped Santa Cruz pull away for the win.

Since sending Mannion, along with Jordan Poole and Alen Smailagic to Orlando, Fla., to participate in the G League bubble, Warriors coach Steve Kerr has stressed the importance of the trio gaining significant exposure and reps in game situations. So far, all three have put forward some formidable performances.

While Mannion had the best overall game Saturday, both Poole and Smailagic provided some noteworthy plays. Poole, who caught the attention of a handful of Warriors teammates -- including Steph Curry -- after a monstrous dunk earlier in the week, finished with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists. Two of those 12 points came after the 21-year-old muscled his way through two Nets' defenders for a basket.

Smailagic finished with six points and five rebounds in 19 minutes, but Long Island didn't have any luck in stopping the big man from driving to the hoop, either.

Jeremy Lin did not play for Santa Cruz on Saturday. On Friday, the G League announced they would be opening an investigation after a racial slur was directed at Lin during a game.

Hield ‘disappointed' in NBA 3-point contest runner-up finish

Silver unlikely to be swayed by Curry's officiating suggestion

The G League is slated to run for one more week, and Mannion, Poole and Smailagic should take full advantage of their respective minutes as the trio aims to help Golden State in the second half with the Warriors pushing for a playoff berth.

Santa Cruz will take on the Austin Spurs on Sunday.
