If the Warriors end up winning the NBA Finals, there is zero doubt about who should be crowned Finals MVP.

Hall of Famer Magic Johnson believes that Curry should win the award regardless of whether the Warriors win the series or not.

Even if Boston is the team hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy at the end of the series, Magic believes Steph should still be the one winning the Bill Russell Most Valuable Player Award.
A player on the losing team winning the award has happened only one time in NBA history. That player was Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer Jerry West, who won the award after his Lakers lost to the Celtics in seven games in 1969.

As unlikely as it is that Curry takes home the award in a losing effort, it's not impossible. There is no rule stating that it has to go to a player on the winning team -- it's essentially just tradition.
It certainly wouldn't be the first time that Curry did the unthinkable. It would, however, be Curry's first Finals MVP.
