Kevon Looney will be back on the court within a week, the Warriors announced Wednesday evening.
Looney was re-evaluated Wednesday afternoon after missing seven games -- eight including Wednesday's game against the Miami Heat -- because of a sprained ankle suffered on Feb. 2 against the Boston Celtics, and can be expected to return to the lineup during the team's upcoming four-game road trip.
"He's progressing and getting some work in and we're hopeful that in the latter stages of the road trip he'll be able to play," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

Surprisingly, this was Looney's first ankle sprain of his career. Kerr believes that's a reason why it has kept him out so long.
"Generally, the first one is the worst one," he said. "Your ankles sort of get used to it after you roll it a few times."
Looney participated in the non-contact portion of practice on Wednesday, along with James Wiseman who is also out, and both players will join the team on its upcoming road trip.

The hope is that both Looney and Wiseman will be able to play on the tail end of the trip.

The Warriors have been playing small-ball since Looney and Wiseman went down with injuries over two weeks ago, and with their returns right around the corner, Kerr and the coaching staff is tasked with figuring out where they will fit into the rotation.
"We're discussing all this stuff. We haven't made any decision yet," Kerr said. "Probably as a staff, we'll have a good discussion on the plane tomorrow. And we'll just wait and see. At this stage of the season, what we have figured out is which combination we like, and which ones we don't like. So, that will factor into our decision-making as to how we go about it.
"But between Loon and James coming back relatively soon, we've got several decisions to make. Those decisions have a domino effect on the rest of the guys too."
