Lacob: Steph's 50-point Game 7 might eclipse Game 4 vs. Celtics

In the span of 10 months, Steph Curry has put forth two of the greatest performances of his iconic NBA career.

The first came on June 10, 2022 when Curry saved the Warriors season by scoring 43 points in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. The second occurred Sunday when he scored a Game 7-record and a playoff career-high 50 points to propel Golden State past the Sacramento Kings in their first-round series at Golden 1 Center.

Warriors CEO Joe Lacob had a front-row seat for both games and was asked about Curry's latest feat during an appearance on "Warriors Pregame Live" before Game 1 of the second-round NBA playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

"Steph Curry is ... I don't think any of us know what to say anymore," Lacob told hosts Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin, Festus Ezeli and Dorrell Wright. "So spectacular. Such a great person and this just adds to the legend in an incredible [way]. I was there. It was unbelievable. I thought Game 4 in Boston, down 2-1, was the greatest sporting event, NBA event I've ever been to.

"I still have to put it there because of the how much it meant with the Finals. But actually, his performance in this game might have been greater, right? You just keep watching the highlights and you can't believe it. It was unbelievable."

In both road games, the Warriors needed heroic performances from Curry, and he delivered.

Curry isn't done writing the story of his career, but Lacob is sure what the reigning NBA Finals MVP has done recently will be a prominent part of the film.

"We'll worry about that [later]," Lacob said when jokingly asked if he had secured the rights to the movie of Curry's career. "There's not been a lot of time to do that kind of thing. But that would be a great scene in a documentary film about this period. Fantastic."

Curry's Game 7 performance against the Kings set up an epic second-round matchup against LeBron James and the Lakers, with a trip to the Western Conference finals on the line.

If Curry authors any legendary performances against the Lakers, Lacob will be right watching in amazement.
