Lacob reveals Morey called him over controversial Steph tweet

Daryl Morey got himself and the Philadelphia 76ers into some trouble earlier this month because of a tweet that directly was connected to Steph Curry.

Well, I guess you could say it was over two tweets:

Morey and the franchise each were fined $75,000 for violating the NBA's anti-tampering rule.

Hey Joe Lacob -- did the social media behavior of the 76ers' president of basketball operations tick you off?

"It's funny. I was watching some draft guys at a workout in Southern California," the Warriors owner told The Athletic's Tim Kawakami on The TK Show podcast. "And I got this call from Daryl Morey saying, 'Hey. I don't know if you saw it, but I didn't mean what I said.' And I didn't even know what he was talking about [laughs].

"Frankly, I was busy. It was a little unusual to receive a call from Daryl Morey. I know him but he doesn't usually call me. But he did.

That truly is funny.

But Morey certainly isn't in a laughing mood right now as the 76ers' season came to an end Sunday night with their Game 7 loss at home to the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Just like it's going to be fascinating to see what the Warriors do with their roster this offseason, it's going to be extremely interesting to see what happens with Ben Simmons in Philly.
