Kobe calls Curry ‘crazy' for All-Star Game assists offer

Editor's note: Steph Curry talks Kobe Bryant and the NBA All-Star game at the :50 mark in the video above. 

It's no secret that the Western Conference All-Stars will do all they can to send off a retiring Kobe Bryant in style at the NBA All-Star Game Sunday in Toronto. 

But when Steph Curry admitted that fact to Bryant earlier this weekend, the Lakers great -- keeping in character -- responded by questioning the Warriors star's sanity.

“Steph said, ‘I have a lot of assists for you,'” Bryant said. “I said, ‘Don’t. What are you doing? You’re a shooter, you grew up watching me. What the hell are you talking about, you’re going to pass the ball at an All-Star Game? Are you crazy?'”

Curry went into a little more detail about paying tribute to the 18-time All-Star. 

“We joked and kind of talked about it,” Curry said in regards to helping Kobe win the All-Star Game MVP. “Obviously, that would be a cool story for him to go out like that, but you never know how the game’s going to unfold. Every All-Star Game is different and I think the NBA and us players try to do the best job we can of honoring his career and his last stop for All-Star Weekend."

Saturday night's 3-Point Contest runner-up was not quite as clear when asked if he would give it up to Bryant for a potential game-winning shot. 

“He might have to come steal it out of my hands,” Curry said. “I’m pretty confident in either one of us or anybody else on the team taking the shot."
